LAPPING A T-BAR BY MYSELF ON VALENTINE’S DAY

I spent this Valentine’s Day lapping the T-Bar all alone. Sad, I know. Every time I got on, seeing the empty spot next to me on the T reminded me of my loneliness on this day for lovers. So is life, I guess.

A ticket for one, please.

All alone on the T-Bar.

Okay, I’m not really all alone on Valentine’s Day, but I was at the hill! I found myself lapping the T-Bar at Beartown Ski Area today because I had afternoon lunch plans with my valentine and, as a result, I didn’t have time to head over to Vermont to ski. Fortunately, the skiing at Beartown was great and I had a lot of fun lapping the T-Bar, despite being all alone.

For those not familiar, Beartown is located near Plattsburgh, New York. It’s a nonprofit hill with 150 ft. of vertical, a Poma, a T-Bar, a handful of downhill ski trails and a couple miles of cross-country ski trails. The place has a ton of charm, and offers a very old-school experience. If you’re up in northern New York, I'd definitely recommend checking it out.

North Slope Trails.

They were spinning both the T-Bar and the Poma when I arrived, but the Poma stopped running later in the morning. Despite it being a Saturday on a holiday weekend, with pretty comfortable weather, the hill wasn’t too busy. All runs were open and conditions were excellent. There was packed powder everywhere. They had some park features set up on one of the runs, and the halfpipe was open as well.

The trail today in the North Slope Trails area.

In my last blog where I skied Beartown, which was a few weeks ago, I talked about how I skied a trail I never knew existed, and that it appeared there was another one next to it. These runs are in the ‘North Slope Trails’ area on the map. Well, I headed over there today and sure enough, there is another run. The run I skied last time was a pretty narrow trail through the trees. The one I skied today was a bit wider and I found it to be a pretty fun run to cruise through. If the Poma had been spinning after I went over there, I would’ve lapped it. I also checked out the run I skied last time and it was covered in powder. Good stuff.

Never Quit Skiing,
