WALKING REQUIRED: SPRING SKIING AT SUGARBUSH
Between the bumps on Stein’s Run, and the fairly long walk to reach snow elsewhere, it was a pretty eventful time on the snow today at Sugarbush.
SKIING IN NORTHERN VERMONT IN LATE APRIL
Day 119 of my ski season saw me head to northern Vermont for some turns on the groomers at Jay Peak.
SKIING FRESHLY MADE SNOW IN APRIL
It may be April 21, but today I skied snow that was made last night. That’s kind of wild, right?
IT WAS ONE OF THOSE DAYS AT JAY PEAK…
Jay Peak may be the most wind-prone ski area in the East, and today it flexed that muscle.
CLASSIC SPRING SKI DAY AT SUGARBUSH
Today was a classic spring ski day at Sugarbush. There was lots of sun, it was hot, the snow was soft, and the bumps were growing by the minute on Stein’s.
CLOSING WEEKEND AT WHITEFACE (2025-2026)
Well folks, the time has finally come. Whiteface is calling it a season after this weekend, and today was my last day skiing there.
SKIING TREES IN VERMONT IN MID-APRIL
Yeah, the base is slowly melting away, and there were some bare spots in the trees, but the skiing was pretty dang good for April 12!

There was sunshine, it was warm (but not terribly warm), the pond skim happened and, just in general, there was a fun atmosphere around the mountain.
SPRING IS BACK AT WHITEFACE
After a cold start to the week, and even a powder day on Tuesday, spring returned to Whiteface today.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen much in the way of snow, so this was an extra sweet treat.

FINDING SOMEONE’S SKI THAT’D BEEN LOST FOR 4 MONTHS
After four long months, and probably against all odds, this ski is set to be reunited with its owner.
A MOODY SKI DAY AT WHITEFACE
Visibility was terrible everywhere, except the very bottom. The fog was so dense at times that it felt like I was in a Silent Hill game.
FAST AND FIRM DAY IN THE WOODS AT JAY PEAK
Despite knowing that the woods would be fast and firm, I decided to head up there anyways, because April is nearly here, and tree days are now fleeting.
HOW I PAID A DOLLAR IN QUARTERS FOR A LIFT TICKET TO SKI TODAY
That’s right. A lift ticket today was only a dollar. I paid in quarters.
FAST, FIRM AND A LITTLE MUSHY AT WHITEFACE
Yesterday was a warm day in the North Country. Temperatures were in the 50s, and then it rained last night. After that, it got cold. Put that all together and you’ve got the recipe for a fast and firm ski day.

It’s been a roller coaster of a month in terms of temperatures and precipitation in the East. How’s the base holding up at Whiteface Mountain?

The snow was amazing, there was plenty of terrain open, and the views were five star!
