ANOTHER AMAZING AFTERNOON SKIING WHITEFACE

When was the last day that conditions weren’t good? It feels like it’s been a long time. Everywhere I’ve been for weeks now, conditions have been amazing, especially for the time of year, and this afternoon at Whiteface was no exception. It was yet another cold one on the mountain, but it was a bit more tolerable than yesterday, and the snow was great.

Very bottom of Boreen.

Looking at Fox from the gondola.

Paron’s Run.

I got there a little later than usual this afternoon, but I still managed to rack up about 18,500 ft. of vertical. Not bad for a couple of hours of skiing. I don’t normally track my stats, but today I decided to, for whatever reason. They had five lifts spinning, with access to 50 runs. Some of the trails that were open yesterday, like Upper Northway and Lower McKenzie, were closed today. Lower McKenzie hasn’t had snow made on it, so it may have been thin, but I'm not sure why Upper Northway was roped off. Perhaps it may have been too icy. I'm not sure.

Victoria.

Essex.

Around the mountain, the ski surface was packed powder and you could really rip through it. I loved it. Truth be told, I was having such a fine time skiing off the gondola that I didn’t really even want to go up to the summit, but I did make it up there for a run and it was the same way. My run of the day was honestly probably Excelsior. It was excellent to cruise through.

Late in the day, I met up with Wild Bill and we skied a run or two off the gondola and then two runs off the Face Lift. My toe, which has been giving me problems for the last few weeks, didn’t give me too many issues today so I was able to give Wild Bill a run for his money for the first time in a long time. It’s always fun when you can compete with the best of em’.

Never Quit Skiing,

Lincoln
