ANOTHER SNOWY SKI DAY AT WHITEFACE

Shoveling my driveway is starting to feel like a part-time job, and that’s okay with me. We love snow roun’ these parts. It seems to snow all the time now in northern New York. What a pattern and what a start to the ski season! I won’t say it’s because I once again didn’t buy a snow blower ahead of winter, but I think it’s likely because I didn’t buy a snow blower ahead of winter.

Upper Northway.

Moose.

That was a lot of words to say that today was another snowy day at Whiteface. I got there in the afternoon, as per usual during the week, and found a quiet mountain with great snow. I don’t know where everyone was, but I’m glad they weren’t there. Every run seemed to have ample pockets of powder.

Paron’s Run.

Visibility high up on the mountain wasn’t great, but what can you do? When the visibility manager is out the office, they’re out of the office. My guess is they were out skiing some secret, powder-filled area of the mountain. I can’t say I blame them. I only did one run off the summit and it was down The Follies. There was a lot of snow on the run and it’s probably the best that trail has skied this season, at least for me personally. The lower part of Paron’s Run was also great, for what it’s worth.

Boreen Loop.

Looking down at Danny’s Bridge.

Victoria.

Most of my time was spent skiing off the gondola. I really enjoyed Essex today. Upper Northway was also great. Really, it all was. They opened a few new runs, including Danny’s Bridge and Draper’s Drop via Tom Cat. I didn’t check out Drapers Drop, but I did ski Danny’s Bridge. Brookside, which Danny’s Bridge connects to, was not open.

Tomorrow could be a windy day at Whiteface, and lift operations could be impacted. Currently, my plan is to ski there, but I may have to pivot or take the day off if winds are a problem. We shall see.

Never Quit Skiing,

Lincoln
