The snow from this storm was notably very light and fluffy.

Between the heavy falling snow, the powder on the ground and the incredibly strong winds, this afternoon was a wild one at Whiteface.

With the base getting nice and deep, I’ve been playing around in the trees at Whiteface more and more in the last week or so.

And just like that, I’m halfway to the century mark.

This week has been up and down and all around in terms of ski conditions. Today was no different.

With a few inches of fresh snow on the ground, and snow in the air, this afternoon was a treat at Whiteface.

Just two days ago, I had a classic Ice Coast ski day at Whiteface. Conditions were fast and firm everywhere. Sharp edges were a must! Today? Not so much.

It was a gorgeous day on the mountain, one that felt well-earned after yesterday’s debacle.

Today was day 40 of my ski season. It was an odd day on the mountain.

The last week or so has been pretty cold here in the northern reaches of the Northeast, especially at higher elevations, and today we finally got a break from it.

It’s not often you get to ski amongst towering whales like this!

For the first time this year, I skied at the East’s greatest vertical ski area!

This week’s rain, mild temperatures and winds were today’s ice. Welcome to the East, baby!

The sun was out and the snow was just perfect. It was like an early spring day out there.

The low visibility combined with the freezing mositure was pretty annoying, I can’t lie.

It’s been a couple of days since I skied at Whiteface. The trail count grew quite a bit during my short time away.

Between the wind, the extreme cold high up, the ice and, also, the random pockets of great snow, it was a cocktail of conditions.

It seems to snow all of the time now in northern New York. What a pattern and what a start to the ski season!
